00a71.jpg  For the first time in their existence, the Cleveland Cavaliers are heading to the NBA Finals, having defeated the Detrot Pistons 98-92 Saturday night. The win in front of an ecstatic Q Arena crowd, was the culmination of a dream that started when the Cavaliers first drafted forward LeBron James with the first pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.

The series eerily resembled last year’s Eastern Conference Semi Finals Series. Cleveland won game five last year in Detroit but lost a heartbreaker in front of their home crowd in game six, and were never really a factor in game seven in Detroit.

The hero for Cleveland in this game was rookie point guard Daniel Gibson who took advantage of his playing time and led the Cavaliers to the victory with a career high 31 points. The Cavaliers finally have defeated their nemesis, and now get to the next level. They will meet the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.
