Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
New Phoenix Suns General Manager and team President Steve Kerr says that he has talked with the Minnesota Timberwolves about the possibility of acquiring power forward Kevin Garnett according to reports published Saturday.? Kerr according to the reports said that he has talked with Minnesota officials about making the trade but money be to big a stumbling block to overcome. Garnett’s contract was negotiated before the current NBA players agreement took effect limiting salaries. Because?it was negotiated before the agreement took place, Garnett’s contract was grandfathered in.? League sources say that Phoenix may even be willing to trade Amare Stoudamaire in order to get Garnett. Meanwhile according to the Boston Herald, an unnamed Boston Celtics official told the paper?that he believes that Garnett’s agent Andy Miller was bluffing when he said that Garnett would forfiet the year 2008 in his contract if taded to Boston. Garnett is due $23 million in that season, if he voided the contract he would end up losing at least $10 million. Sources say that the Celtics have offered Al Jefferson,? plus the number five pick in the NBA draft and are willing to throw in other players to make the numbers work financially.
