Vinsanity Opts Out Of Final Year

The New Jersey Nets announced on Saturday, that shooting guard Vince Carter has opted out of the final year of his contract allowing the All-Star to become an unrestricted free agent. Carter, would have been paid over $16 million this season but wants to test the free agent waters. Nets President Rod Thorn said on Saturday, that the move was expected, and New Jersey will do it’s best to retain Carter. The team has Carter’s “Bird Rights” meaning they have the right to negotiate a longer contract and offer more money than any other NBA franchise.
