Sonics As Expected Say P.J. Is Their Man

The Seattle SuperSonics made it official on Thursday and hired former San Antonio Spurs assistant coach P.J. Carlesimo as their new bench boss. Carlesimo who was an assistant? for Spurs head coach Greg Popovich for the last five years was brought in as the new floor leader in Seattle because of his teaching ability, according to Seattle General Manager Sam Presti. The two men had worked together before in the San Antonio organization. The Sonics will be relying on youth this year, as they signed their two building blocks to what the team hopes will be the start of a successful nucleus on Wednesday. Number two pick, Kevin Durant, and number five pick Jeff Green whom they acquired from Boston for shooting guard Ray Allen are now signed with the team.
