Reports Say Billups Will Re-Up With Pistons

The Detroit Free Press is reporting Friday night that a deal is now in place that will keep Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups with the team for at least four seasons, and with Detroit having an option for the fifth year. Reports started circulating about the deal on Tuesday, however Billup’s agent denied the reports vehemently and said that nothing was imminent, and he doubted whether anything would be accomplished Tuesday or Wednesday. According to the reports quoting our old friend “an anonymous source close to the team with knowledge of the deal”, the deal is now in place and will be announced on July 11, the first day that NBA teams are allowed to sign free agents.?
