The relationship between the Milwaukee Bucks and their first round draft choice Yi Jianlian is in many ways like an arranged marriage. It certainly was not love at first sight for the?seven foot?power forward out of China, in fact the Chinese Government who calls the shots when it comes to Yi’s NBA career told Milwaukee not to draft the player. They were looking for a market with a larger Asian community, in which better to promote their latest export. But Milwaukee did not take kindly to being the jilted suitor, and drafted Yi in spite of the warnings. Now this bizarre courting ritual is going on between the Bucks Brain-trust, and the player’s representatives. And this is all going on in Las Vegas, Yi Jianlian still has never ever been to Milwaukee! Meanwhile, Yi is playing against NBA Competition, as he played on the Chinese National Team against the Memphis Grizzlies. The?Chinese team?ended up losing the game to Memphis 86-77 but the Buck’s first round pick did not fail to impress. Yi scored 23 points and grabbed four rebounds in 28 minutes play, impressing both the Buck’s staff and Yi Jianlian’s representatives. After the game Yi declined to talk about the draft or his status with the Buck’s with reporters.
