Seattle SuperSonics forward Kevin Durant had his first taste of the NBA Friday in his Summer League debut against the Dallas Mavericks. The second pick in last month’s NBA Draft, was used to dominating at the college level, as he played one year at Texas. But he saw things were not going to come as easily very quickly on, as his first shot in the game was swatted away by Mavericks backup center D’esagana Diop. Durant shot a very tepid 5-17 from the field, but did lead all scorers with 18 points as his team lost to Dallas 77-66. Durant’s teammate and fellow first round pick Jeff Green scored only seven points all in the first quarter. Durant speaking to reporters after the game said he had scoring opportunities, but his shots were not dropping.
