Yi’s Buzzer Beater Gives Team China Win Over Cavaliers 85-84
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Some time in the next few years power forward?Yi Jianlian may look back at Sunday’s game between the Chinese National Team and the Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League team, and think of it as a defining moment in the evolution of his burgeoning NBA Career.?Or on the other hand he may look at as the time he stole a game away at the Buzzer while trying to cement his rep as a money player. Either scenario would be appropriate, as the seven foot power forward who is playing right now for Team China, got off a sweet turn around jumper, the ball ticking the twine just before the buzzer went off and giving Yi and his teammates a win against the squad that is representing the Eastern Conference Champs in the Las Vegas Summer League. Although Yi did not shoot as well as he did against Memphis,?going only 3-11 from the field, he still made a lot of trips to the charity stripe where he went 14-17 from the?line?and?with the clutch shot to win the game, gave him a team high 20 points. Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson started for?Cleveland, and got 14 points but sprained his ankle in the second quarter and did not return to the floor. Cleveland’s 2006 first round?pick Shannon Brown came up big for the Cavaliers with 26 points.
