Magic Lock Up Howard In Long Term Pact
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Saying that he hopes to spend his entire career in Orlando, Dwight Howard the team’s number one pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, and the first selection over all signed a long term deal with the Magic on Thursday. The deal is for four years, with a player’s only option for the fifth, allowing the center to chose to become an unrestricted free agent if he so desires. The deal comes one day after acquiring forward Rashard Lewis in a sign and trade with Seattle. Orlando General Manager Otis Smith, who is probably anticipating the start of the regular season as much as anybody, so he can slow down his schedule, said Howard is the hub that the Magic are building around. The deal is thought to be worth over $ 80 million?if the fifth year is included.
