NBA Referee Under Federal Investigation

Reports published Friday state that veteran NBA referee Tim Donaghy is the subject of a federal investigation trying to determine if he played any part in trying to fix NBA games over the last two seasons. According to the reports, Federal Investigators are trying to determine whether there is any evidence that Donaghy or his associates bet on any NBA games, and whether Donaghy tried to influence the outcome of any contests. Investigators are also trying to determine whether he has been coerced by any members of organized crime. A grand jury convening in Brooklyn, New York has been investigating the case, and are expected to make their findings known within the next few weeks. Donaghy who has been a NBA Official for 13 seasons supposedly was aware of the investigation and resigned his position with the league ten days ago according our old friends “Anonymous league sources who are familiar with the case.” The same sources say that the 40 year old Donaghy would surrender to law enforcement officials if he is charged with any crimes.
