Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The Miami Heat Friday signed free agent point guard William “Smush” Parker to a contract in an effort to solidify their back court. Parker was the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers the past two seasons, averaging 11.3 points and 3.2 assists a game. Parker who broke into the NBA with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in 2002 will be playing for his seventh NBA franchise. Heat coach Pat Riley praised Parker as a player who brings size shooting and defense to the Miami back court. The Lakers were over the salary cap and did not pursue re-signing Parker.
