Could Mavericks And Webber Be A Good Fit?
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Reports out of Dallas say that the Mavericks are extremely interested in acquiring free agent big man Chris Webber, and he might be receptive to their overtures. Webber who was released last season from Philadelphia and ended up finishing the campaign with Detroit, has recently said that the the two teams that intrigue him are the Pistons, and the Mavericks. Detroit was eliminated last season by Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Webber’s usefulness is winding to a halt, no doubt. However i do think he can find a place in Dallas. I’ve said this so many times to my friends, and it really isnt anything new. Dallas needs a backup power forward that can score. He doesn’t need to be a double digit threat each night, no. But they need a big man outside of Dirk who knows offense. Dampier and Diop are pretty bad post players, nothing new, although i like Damp’s occasional ability to get offensive rebounds when he wants to. Dallas definitely has room for C-Webb in the rotation for a solid 15 minutes a night.
