Grizzlies Acquire Spanish League Star Navarro From Wizards

The Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday finalized a deal with the Washington Wizards in which they got former FC Barcelona guard Juan Carlos Navarro from the Washington Wizards for a 2008 NBA first round pick. The Wizards originally selected Navarro with a second round pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. Navarro has been one of the premier guards in Europe, and is also one of Memphis Big man Pau Gasol’s closest friend. Sources close to the team expect Navarro to be the starting point guard on Opening Night and an eventual mentor to first round pick Mike Conley Jr.
