Marbury Sticks Up For Vick
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
There are days when I contemplate giving up my current profession of being in the Sports Media, and starting my own company called “Sackman’s Clearing House.” What I would do is send every Media Relations Director for every Pro team, a brochure offering my services to their athletes for a fee, to be a filtering system before they may make any statements that could even hint of controversy. I visualize having three categories set up; Number One: It’s all good! Go on make your statement without any fear of upsetting anyone. Category Number Two: Let’s finesse this one, I think you have a good point but let’s try to state it a little more diplomatically. Number Three: Skull and Crossbones, Warning, Danger, Stay Away!!!
If I had such a company and New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury was one of my clients, he would definitely fall into Category Number Three for the statements he made in Albany, New York this week. Stephon, certainly no stranger to controversy, on a visit to Albany promoting his line of basketball shoes decided to throw his support behind Michael Vick. Marbury told reporters that in his mind that dog fighting was a sport, just held behind closed doors. He went onto comparing to hunting, and said that people do not have a problem with the shooting of wildlife. Stephon, although I also am not a fan of hunting, to call dogfighting a sport is simply ludicrous. Some times you have to know when to say “No comment.”
