Traveling Man Johnson Signs With Miami
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
For an athlete who has only played one season in the NBA Alexander Johnson sure has been with a whole lot of teams. Johnson was originally drafted with the 45th pick of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers, but he never played for them. Indiana traded him to Portland plus two future second round picks for the draft rights to James White, but he never played for them. Portland then traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies for a second round pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, he did play for them. Last year as a rookie Johnson averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 59 games 19 of which he started. Friday the 6′9″ forward signed a free agent deal with the Miami Heat, terms of the deal were not disclosed. No wonder they call him the “Traveling Man” {Actually they don’t I just made the name up, but I kind of like it!} Johnson who is 24 played three years for Florida State. He is expected to be the backup to Udonis Haslem.
