James Posey Now A Boston Celtic

The Boston Globe reported on Saturday that the Boston Celtics have signed free agent veteran James Posey to a two year deal. The contract is reported to be worth $7 million over the two years with the second year of the pact a players option. Posey who started his career in Denver, played the last two seasons for the Miami heat including their championship season of 2006. Thursday Miami head coach Pat Riley said that the club still hoped to come to terms with the veteran who was getting interest from a number of NBA teams. Posey has averaged 9.5 points and 4.9 boards in his career, although his numbers were reduced by playing with players like Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O’Neal the last tow years. Posey has also played with Houston and Memphis during his eight years in the NBA. The 30 year old veteran is also known as a gritty defensive player.
