Oklahoma City Mayor Says He Has Not Talked With Any NBA Teams

The Tacoma News Tribune Tuesday reported that Mick Cornett who is the Mayor of Oklahoma City said that he has not had any contact with any NBA franchise nor has the city been actively trying to recruit any team. The statement follows reports over the weekend that Seattle SuperSonics Owner Clay Bennett?had been telling employees that Oklahoma City would help pay the freight of any relocation from Seattle. Last week part owner Aubrey McClendon was fined $250,000?by the NBA for making statements about moving the team to Oklahoma City earlier this month. Cornett did say that the city is willing to build a new facility to replace the existing Ford Center.
