NBA Referees Union Hire Attorney

The NBA Referees Union has hired a former federal prosecutor to assist the refs as the NBA reviews the league’ officiating program. Gregory Magarity who was a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has been retained by the union. He has been in practice for over 30 years, and has a background in corporate internal investigations, as well as other aspects of criminal activity. The hiring of Magarity is in response to the review is going to undertake to check on the gambling history of the referees. Former ref Tim Donaghy who has entered a guilty plea to charges of illegal gambling has said he will implicate 20 of his former peers on charges of gambling.
