Team USA Pulls Away From Puerto Rico Wins 135-91

Saturday Team USA actually had a game on their hand leading Puerto Rico at the end of the first quarter by their smallest margin of the FIBA Americas Championship at six points. But the USA team had extended their lead to 15 points at the half and had it up to 30 at points at the end of the 3rd quarter leading 100-70. In the 4th quarter Team USA started raining threes, at one point having the lead up to 46 points at 130-84 with less than 2:00 left !? Michael Redd went 7-8 from three point range and ended up with 23 points. Team USA wins 135-91 over Puerto Rico, and looked like the dominant Basketball power so far in this Tournament. Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 27, LeBron James had 19, and Kobe Bryant had 15. For Puerto Rico Larry Ayuso led with 22 points, Carlos Arroyo had 21.

Team USA matches up Sunday against Argentina for the Tournament Championship who beat Brazil on Saturday 91-80. Luis Scola scored 27 for the Argentinians. Both teams in the Finals have already qualified for berths in the 2008 Olympics which will be held in Beijing. Team USA defeated Argentina Thursday night 91-76.
