Larry Legend Not Happy About Pacers’ Williams Pot Bust
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
At times this Summer as a reporter and columnist covering the NBA, MLB,?and?the NFL, it almost seems as if the league’s are playing the game “Can You Top This!”?Last week, MLB took the first hit with allegations of two prominent players using HGH in the past few years. Not wanting to be left out in the cold the NFL had it’s “VideoGate” saga start earlier this week, as reports surfaced of a camera man credentialed by the New England Patriots had his camera confiscated by security during the Pats game against the New York Jets. Allegedly, the video tape inside the camera was of Jets defensive coaches giving signals. Well, the NBA decided to add their latest edition to the “Summer of Controversy”as Indiana Pacers forward Shawne Williams was arrested Tuesday on four charges after his SUV was pulled over by police according to the Indianapolis Star. Williams was charged with four counts, as?police found marijuana in the ashtray, and he was driving on expired plates, and did not have a valid license.?
Pacers President Larry Bird said that Williams conduct was inexcusable. Although the organization would wait and see what happens in the legal process, Bird said that Williams should never have allowed himself to be in the position he was in. Bird said that his organization had certain standards that it owed to the fans and the game. Williams played last year as a rookie for Indianapolis, he was in 46?games and averaged 3.9 points.
