It’s a long way from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Moscow but Russian National Team Guard J.R. Holden seems to have found himself a home there. With 2.1 seconds left on the clock in the FIBA Euro-Basket Tournament Finals, when Holden a Pittsburgh native who is now a Russian citizen, took a long jumper that rattled around the rim and then went through the cylinder. The basket gave Russia a 60-59 win over host team Spain in the championship game. Holden finished with 8 points, but the Tournament MVP was teammate Andrei Kirilenko who had a team high 17 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a blocked shot and a critical steal. Russian center Aleksey Savrasenko had 10 points while forward Victor Khryapa had 7 points and 12 rebounds. Spain was led by by guard Jose Calderon who had 15 points, forward Pau Gasol had 14 points 14 boards and 3 blocked shots in the loss. Spain ends up with the Silver Medal, Lithuania earlier in the day won the Bronze when they defeated Greece.
