The South Florida Sentinel is reporting that the Miami?Heat are now at the NBA maximum of 20 roster players after?making two deals in the last two days. The paper is reporting that the Heat will re-sign restricted free agent center Earl Barron, and have made a deal with 5′10″ guard Brian Chase. Barron, because he is a restricted free agent, will not be able to be dealt during this upcoming season unless he gives his approval. Barron has been in the NBA for two seasons both with Miami, he has averaged?2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. The Brian Chase saga is an intriguing story. Chase was in training camp with the Utah Jazz last year but failed to make the team. He spent the season playing for the NBDL, as well as other leagues. This Summer he played with the Washington Wizards in the Summer League where he was discovered by none other than Miami center Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq was amazed at the performance the young man put on out on the floor, as he scored 30 points. O’Neal talked to Miami coach Pat Riley, and implored him to check the player out. Now Chase will be in camp with Miami. Chase’s agent Derrick Powell said the whole story is like a fairy tale.
