Defending Eastern Conference Champions the Cleveland Cavaliers announced Saturday that they have signed veteran free agent guard Devin Brown to a contract for the upcoming season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 28 year old 6′5″ Brown played for New Orleans last season as he set career highs in points with 11.6, boards with 4.3 and assists with 2.6 per game. Brown saw limited action his first season in the NBA playing in just 7 games for the San Antonio Spurs and 3 games for the Denver Nuggets during the 2002-2003 campaign. However he went back to San Antonio for the next two seasons as his playing time greatly increased, to 58 games in the 2003-2004 season, and 67 games in 2004-2005. He spent the following season with the Utah Jazz before signing with the Hornets last year. Cleveland General Manager Danny Ferry said that Brown is a versatile player who can play many different roles and should be a great asset to the team.
