Pacers Williams Gets Community Service

Indiana Pacers forward Shawne Williams was sentenced to 40 hours of community service Monday as he pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license. Williams was sentenced in Marion Superior Court, the hearing was supposed to take place Friday, but the player overslept. The Pacers forward? was arrested?September 11,?on four charges after his SUV was pulled over by police according to the Indianapolis Star. Williams was charged with four counts, as?police found marijuana in the ashtray, and he was driving on expired plates, and did not have a valid license.?
Pacers President Larry Bird said that Williams conduct was inexcusable. Although the organization would wait and see what happens in the legal process, Bird said that Williams should never have allowed himself to be in the position he was in. Bird said that his organization had certain standards that it owed to the fans and the game. Williams played last year as a rookie for Indianapolis, he was in 46?games and averaged 3.9 points.
