?The 2006-2007 NBA season was one of little progress for the Detroit Pistons as a team. For the second year?in a row ?they were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs in the Eastern Conferences finals this time by the Cleveland Cavaliers. However one member of their squad forward Jason Maxiel,?took a quantum leap, boding for good things to come, at least the Pistons hope! The Detroit Free Press Thursday quoted Pistons head coach Flip Saunders as saying that he and the team are going to be setting the bar vey high for the player?going into his third NBA Season. Saunders said they are expecting big things out of Maxiel and anticipating him to be a major contributor in the upcoming season. Maxiel went from playing just 26 games in his rookie year to playing in 67 regular season contests last season. With the increased playing time came increased production seeing his points per game and rebounds more than double going from 2.3 points and 1.1 board per game to 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest. Maxiel who saw no playing time in the playoffs in his rookie season, played in 14 games in last years post season and making a rather strong impression blocking 9 shots in just 14 games. There is a lot of speculation in Motown that Maxiel could become Detroit’s sixth man this upcoming season.
