Garnett Looks Grand In Green Celtics Defeat Raptors 89-85

Boston Celtics’ recently acquired forward Kevin Garnett looked like he had been playing with the shamrock on his jersey his entire career, as he helped Boston defeat the Toronto Raptors in Rome 89-85 Saturday. The exhibition game part of what is being called “NBA Europe Live” is another part of Commissioner David Stern’s strategy to increase the global appeal of the league. Garnett scored 19 points and had 16 boards, teammate Paul Pierce led all scorers with 21 points, and the third member of Boston’s “Elite Three” guard Ray Allen had 10 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds. Raptors point guard T.J. Ford, led Toronto with 15 points. Toronto was the division winner of the Eastern Division last season, Boston with their newly reconstituted team hopes to be challenging the Raptors all season long.
