The Dallas Mavericks came into this game against the defending NBA Champions the San Antonio Spurs with a chip on the collective shoulders. After making an embarrassing first round exit in last season’s NBA Playoffs they felt they had something to prove. Well it’s just the pre-season, and it’s just one game but the Mavericks took a take no prisoners approach on the floor dominating San Antonio 88-67.

The Mavericks clicking on all cylinders, looked like they were in mid-season form in the first pre-season game for both teams.  Dallas’ front court came up big,  Josh Howard led the way with 18 points, Dirk Nowitzki had 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Brandon Bass came off the bench scoring 10  and getting and 7 boards. Guard Jose Barea had a big night as well scoring 13, 11 in the fourth quarter. Manu Ginobli, Matt Bonner and Brent Barry each had 14 points for San Antonio.
