In order to excel in basketball past the High School level, you have to have immense talent. However to make it to the next level, the NBA you have to have another asset; competitive drive. Pro athletes hate to lose, walking into a NBA locker room after a loss is like walking into a funeral parlor. It is tough enough to take that loss when a team beats you, it’s ten times tougher to take when you beat yourself! When a NBA team commits 27 turnovers during a game, that constitutes beating yourself, which is exactly what the Cleveland Cavaliers did Tuesday night. Combine that with a big night off the bench from Washington Wizards guard Antonio Daniels and you end up with a Cleveland?loss to Washington 81-62.

Daniels scored 12 points and had 3 assists and 4 rebounds, rookie Oleksiy Pecherov had 10 points and 6 rebounds as well. Daniel Gibson started at point guard for Cleveland, and proved what I said all off-season. Gibson is a shooting guard that Cleveland is trying to make into a point guard, but his mindset is still in the mode of a scorer not a quarterback. Gibson had 13 points, but only 1 assist and 3 turnovers, certainly not reflective of a point guard. Cleveland ended up with 12 more turnovers than Washington. Until Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry makes the move to bring in a real point guard this will probably be a continuing trend. LeBron James in limited minutes scored only 3 points, as Gibson was the only Cavalier to score in double figures.
