Wizards Thomas To Undergo Heart Surgery
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Washington Wizards Team President Ernie Grunfeld released a statement on Wednesday, that Wizards center Etan Thomas will undergo surgery to fix what is being termed “a leaky aortic valve.” Doctors discovered the valve abnormality during a routine physical. The physicians would not give the 29 year old 6′10″center clearance to play after the discovery. Grunfeld said the six year veteran would undergo surgery on Thursday, and the team will issue a statement on the player’s condition after the procedure. DISCLAIMER:I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on the Internet, but we are talking about? heart surgery here! I mean this to me is big time surgery, we are talking about a man’s heart! It’s one thing when you are talking about MCL surgery or Tommy John surgery. Sure those procedures can end your career, but you can still lead a somewhat normal life. I realize that breakthroughs in modern medicine have made these procedures much more common place, still any time you are talking about a heart procedure I personally get worried. Our thoughts and prayers at Slam Dunk Central go out to Etan and his family.
