Thomas Undergoes Successful Open Heart Surgery

Great news out of the Washington Wizards organization Friday as doctors said Wizards center Etan Thomas came out of open heart surgery in excellent condition! In fact doctors say that Thomas is in such great shape that he could likely play again in the NBA, possibly as early as this season! The surgery to fix a leaky aortic valve was performed on Thursday at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, one of the planet’s most respected Medical facilities. Dr, Hatzell Schaff a cardiovascular surgeon at the clinic, said that the physicians there believe that Thomas’ heart and lung function should return to normal and there is definitely a good?possibility that he could return to playing in the NBA. Schaff said that most patients recover from the actual surgery?in a bout four weeks, but the impediment keeping Thomas from getting back on the floor any where near that time frame is they had to crack his sternum to perform the procedure. Schaff could not estimate how long that would take to heal. Etan we are very pleased here at Slam Dunk Central to hear all the encouraging news, we wish you a speedy recovery!
