Reports From New York Say NBA Disciplined Six Referees

The New York Daily News NBA reporter Mitch Lawrence has reported that the NBA has disciplined six referees for?breaking ant-gambling rules that are in their contracts.?The?punishment comes in the?wake of the Tim Donaghy scandal? in which the former NBA?referee admitted to being involved in taking money as payoffs from gamblers as well as? betting on ?games in which would officiate. Donaghy who will be sentenced in Federal Court next January could face a sentence of up to 25 years in prison. The Daily News reports that the referees were punished for infractions as minor as frequenting casinos. There have been no names released or what type of discipline took place other than that all the NBA officials still are employed as referees.
