NBA And Referees’ Union Deny Daily News Story

The NBA as well as the NBA Referees’ Union have denied a story published by the New York?Daily News which stated that six current referees had been punished by the league. The paper’s NBA reporter Mitch Lawrence reported that according to his sources six referees were punished for violations of the anti-gambling clauses in their contracts. The report said that no names had been revealed, and that the only thing they knew about the disciplinary action was that?all the officials involved?still had their jobs. NBA spokesman Tim Frank and Union spokesman Lamell McMorris both denied knowledge of any punishment handed down in the case.
