Garnett’s Triple-Double Pushes Boston Past Cleveland 114-89
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Just a hunch but I have the feeling that the three predominant names of male babies born in the net year will be Josh, Tom, and Kevin!?The Boston Celtics finished up their exhibition season looking like they were primed for Opening Night, while The Cleveland Cavaliers looked like a rudderless ship. Celtics forward recorded his first triple double in a Boston uniform as the Celtics disposed of the Cavaliers?in a route 114-89.?Garnett entertained the Boston crowd with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. All five Boston starters were in double figures, Ray Allen with 20, Paul Pierce with 12 center Kendrick Perkins?with 11, and point guard Rajon Rondo with 10 points and 6 assists.?Guard Eddie House came off the bench for Boston scoring 16 including 3-4 from three point range.
For the second night in a row, Cleveland had only 16 assists this time their assist total was more than doubled by their opponent as the Celtics had 34. Rondo and Garnett had 16 assists between the two of them! Unless LeBron James plans on putting up a double double on a nightly basis, given their performance in the exhibition season Cleveland will fall from defending Eastern Conference Champions to losing more games than they win! How Danny Ferry and Mike Brown two men who grew up on fundamentally sound basketball expect this team to compete without a real point guard, is beyond this observer. Cleveland does not?need Sasha Pavlovic they have him in Damon Jones and Ira Newble, they need a quarterback to run the offense.?Larry Hughes?led Cleveland with 18 points and a team high 4 assists, James also had 4 assists and 17 points. Unless?the Cleveland brain-trust have an eleventh hour move in mind it will be a long season at the Q.?
