Knicks Picks Up Four Players Contract Options

The New York Knicks announced Saturday that they have?excersised?contract options on ?four of their players. New York has exercised third year options on guard Mandy Collins, and forward Renaldo Balkman, and exercised fourth year options on guard Nate Robinson, and forward David Lee. Lee averaged 7.7 points and Robinson 9.7 during their two year tenure with New York while Collins scored 4.5 points, and Balkman 4.9 points in their rookie campaigns. Because of the basic agreement between the NBA and the Players Association, a NBA rookie first round draft choice signs a two year deal with club options for the third and fourth years. If the option is not picked up the player becomes an unrestricted free agent.
