They probably will not be the best team in the NBA but they just might be one of the league’s biggest. The Miami Heat Monday announced their opening day roster, and it will have five centers! But the name that may cause the biggest stir is not a center but forward Penny Hardaway who will return to the NBA for the first time since playing just 4 games for the New York Knicks back in the 2005-2006 season. Hardaway who had a try out for Miami early this Summer was in camp on a non-guaranteed contract. Hardaway had retired because of knee pain but appears to be back in playing shape. He is reunited with former teammate center Shaquille O’Neal with whom he played with as they both started their careers with Florida’s other team the Orlando Magic. The four other centers on the roster are Alonzo Mourning, Mark Blount, veteran Earl Barron and undrafted rookie Joel Anthony. guards on the roster are Dwayne Wade, Smush Parker, Ricky Davis, Jason Williams, Chris Quinn, and rookie Daequan Cook. Forwards Udonis Haslem, Dorrell Wright, and Alexander Johnson fill out the roster.
