According to the Associated Press, the Boston Celtics have exercised the contract option for point guard Rajon Rondo for the 2008-09 season.  The team is counting on his contributions, along with Celtic stars Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and recently signed Kevin Garnett.  Last season, Rondo started in 25 of 78 games played, averaging 6.4 PPG and 3.8 APG.  He played two seasons for the University of Kentucky and entered the 2005 NBA draft.  The Celtics acquired him along with forward Brian Grant from the Phoenix Suns for a first-round pick in 2006.
