The Song Remains The Same Spurs Beat Blazers 106-97
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Attention TNT! I get it! Eva Longoria is a very pretty lady, and probably a very good actress as well?(I have never had any inclination to watch Desperate Housewives, I’m more of a Lost, and Heroes, type of guy, but I digress.) I am also very happy that she and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker found each other and have a story book life! However, when the Portland Trail Blazers have cut a Spurs lead from 16 points to 4 at 73-69, I don’t want a split screen with Eva and Cheryl Miller talking about rings, and gardeners. If you want to use that as a halftime segment and take some time away from?Ernie and Charles, be my guest! Or here is even a better idea! How about you have Cheryl host an hour special on NBA Wives? Just do me a favor and let me know when it is on so I can be sure to miss it!!
Okay now down to the game! The?San Antonio?Spurs started the?2007-2008 NBA season the same way they ended the 2006-2007 campaign. With a win as they withstood numerous challenges by Portland as they held on?for a 106-97 victory Tuesday night. Tim Duncan scored a team high 24 points and 13 boards for San Antonio, Parker had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, and sixth man Manu Ginobili had 16 points 8 assists and 3 boards. Portland center LaMarcus Aldridge had a monster game as he scored a game high 27 points, Martell?Webster had 21, and Joel Przybilla had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Portland kept coming back as they cut the lead to 98-95. But Tony?Parker scored 4 straight points to increase the lead to 102-95.

Can’t say enough about the Spurs - but how about LaMarcus Aldridge!!! He has the feel for the game and was scoring on Duncan at will at times, and has the KG perimeter/outside game, with a great, high percentage jumper that is cash! The “Longhorn” will be fun to watch this season and with Greg Oden coming back next season - WOW! Why did Chicago trade this kid for the offensive absent, super athlete Tyrus Thomas (LSU)??? Aldridge looks like the next in-line of a short list of 20/10 guys… though I see him being more of a 22/9, more scoring, less board - he is one of the better athletes at his position - imagine if you combined his outside shot and the power skills of Dwight Howard together - would you get Hakeem?
