The complexities of the?salary cap have NBA teams going through some very bizarre machinations in the NBA in 2007. Take the New Jersey Nets for example. The Nets have waived veteran guard David Wesley three days after acquiring him. New Jersey and the New Orleans Hornets completed a trade Monday sending guard David Wesley to the Nets. The Nets sent New Orleans in return guard/forward Bernard Robinson and center Mile Ilic and cash considerations. New Orleans then immediately waived the two players according Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower?who said that the moves were made for roster and financial flexibility. The Hornets roster now is at 14 players one below the NBA maximum. Wesley who played last season for the Cleveland Cavaliers came back to the Hornets with whom he played?most of his career with?in a trade that sent Cedric Simmons to Cleveland in September.??Now Wesley is looking for a new gig, and both teams have freed up money for future signings. How these franchises come up with these concepts is an amazing thing sometimes.
