Sixers Miss Window To Sign Iguodala
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The Philadelphia 76ers, could not come to terms with their star forward Andre Iguodala on Wednesday on a contract extension. By not agreeing to terms the two sides can not negotiate again until July 1, 2008. Up until Wednesday the Sixers could have signed the Iguodala who is in his fourth season in Philadelphia to an extension of up to five years. But that opportunity vanished as the NBA’s deadline to reach deals was at 11:00PM Wednesday. Iguodala is the player that the Sixers are trying to build around, as they are now transitioning from the Allen Iverson era to a rebuilding phase. Iguodala who scored 23 points in the season opening loss to the Toronto Raptors made great strides last year. He averaged 18.2 points. 5.7 assists, and 5,7 rebounds per contest in 76 games.
