Crawford’s 24 leads Knicks to first win, defeating T-Wolves 97-93

After an embarrassing offseason followed by a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in their opener, the New York Knicks had something to feel good about as they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-93 in the team’s home opener.?

The Timberwolves started rather quickly, shooting 59% from the floor and building a 10-point lead before settling for a 28-21 advantage at the end of the first quarter.? But the Knicks turned things around in the 2nd quarter with some hot shooting oftheir own, going 12-for-14 in a 33-point period that gave them the lead at halftime 54-50.? The game was tied at 81?with 7 minutes left in the game before New York shooting guard Jamal Crawford’s jumper gave the Knicks the lead for good.

Crawford led all Knicks players – 6 in double figures – ?with 24 points and 7 assists.? Point guard Stephon Marbury added 17 and 7 assists while power forward Zach Randolph chipped in 15 and 10 rebounds.? Minnesota was led by F Ryan Gomes with 19 points, with F/C Al Jefferson contributing 16 and 12 boards.? New York (1-1) next face the Denver Nuggets at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, while the 0-2 Timberwolves fly back to Minneapolis to host the Orlando Magic, also on Tuesday.
