Dissension in Toronto?
Posted by Sujeet under Main
In what has to be one of the earliest times of the NBA season to be whining, Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun is reporting that Toronto Raptors forward Jorge Garbajoisa is complaining about his lack of playing time, a whopping two games into this season.? When asked by Buffery why he is averaging only about 7 minutes per contest, Garbajosa replied, “I don’t know.? I practise normally.? I play in the European championships.? I am fine.? Everything is normal.”
I would suspect that injuries have played at least a small part in his lack of playing time; Garbajosa suffered a broken left leg and dislocated left ankle with a ligament tear in a game against Boston on March 26 and was out for the season.? At that time, the Raptors wanted him to undergo surgery this past summer, but Garbajosa opted to play for Spain?at the European championships.?
Add Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell’s?take on the whole Garbajosa situation.? Buffery asked him about Garbajosa and Mitchell’s reply was, “Players play based on the game and how we need them.? Garbo is fine, and the last time I checked, counting (yesterday), we have 80 games to play.”? You gotta love that answer.
