A 14-4 run by the Dallas Mavericks led by sixth man Jason Terry finally gave the Houston Rockets their first defeat as the Mavericks galloped past them for a 107-98 victory. Dallas coach Avery Johnson asked Jason Terry to come off the bench this season and he excelled in his new role leading the Mavericks with 31 points. Dallas as a team shot 46.8% from the field for the game and an incredible 44.4% from outside the arc. The Mavericks ended up shooting the trey 8-18 including one that bounced into the basket after hitting the front rim courtesy of Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki had 19, Josh Howard had 21, Jerry Stackhouse added 16, and even DeSagana Diop got in the fun with 10 points 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming each had amazing nights for the Rockets. McGrady again was the game’s high scorer with 35 points, 8 assists and 3 boards, while Yao had 21 points and 11 rebounds 3 assists, and 2 blocked shots. But they were the only two Houston players in double figures. The Rockets who fall for the first time this season now are at 3-1, they host San Antonio Tuesday night. With the win Dallas now sports an identical 3-1 record.
