Doc Back With Celtics After Passing Of His Dad

The Boston Globe reported Wednesday that Glen “Doc” Rivers Boston Celtics head coach was back with the team Tuesday for practice after the passing of his father last week. Rivers will be on the bench for Wednesday night’s game as Boston host’s the Denver Nuggets, as well as Friday night when they play Atlanta. Rivers will then take a plane immediately following the game back to Chicago where his father’s funeral is being held Saturday morning. He will then take another plane after the ceremony to meet the team as they take on the New Jersey Nets Saturday night. Rivers admitted that this was a tough time for him but thanked the team for it’s support. The Celtics who 2-0 going into the Denver game have not been 3-0 at the start of a season since 1999.
