Short But Sweet, Ginobili Leads Spurs In Trouncing Bucks 113-88

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is usually the epitome of the NBA sixth man. Every once in a while you look at the box score he might be the seventh. Sunday for some strange reason he was the tenth man off the bench for San Antonio as they took on the Milwaukee Bucks. Ginobili also played […]

West, Paul lead balanced attack, Hornets sting 76ers 93-72

The New Orleans Hornets are a team on a mission, based on their play up to this point of the season.  Tonight was no different as forward David West and point guard Chris Paul led a balanced Hornets attack as they destroyed the Philadelphia 76ers 93-72 at Philadelphia.
Charlotte got two consecutive 3-pointers from guard Jannero […]

Heat win first game, beat Knicks 75-72

The Miami Heat finally got off the schneid, winning their first game by defeating the New York Knicks 75-72.  The game itself was rather uninspiring, offensively.  Neither team shot especially well; New York shooting 37.3% from the floor, with Miami doing only a little better, shooting 43.8%.
Miami led after one quarter 25-20 and after a […]

If you prefer your leather in a spherical shape rather than elliptical, there are plenty of great alternatives on the NBA floors this Sunday. The first contest on the schedule is a Sunday afternoon contest featuring two teams that have surprised a lot of observers. The Atlanta Hawks have built a solid nucleus finally after years of […]

Emeka Okafor’s calculated risk

A question that has been bounced around is about the recent news of Charlotte Bobcats forward-center Emeka Okafor declining to sign the, in my opinion, very generous contract extension offered to him.  The question is simple:  Why?
The reaction, as would be expected, is shock, both from Bobcats management and scouts from around the NBA.  […]

There was good news and bad news from East Rutherford.  First the bad news - according to Al Iannazzone of the Trenton Record, New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter suffered what looks like a sprained ankle; he sprained it during the Nets’ loss to the Boston Celtics.  It is not known at this time what […]

Roy’s career-high 32 boosts Trailblazers past Mavericks 91-82

The Portland Trail Blazers had two things going for them Saturday night - they have last year’s Rookie Of the Year, Brandon Roy and they also stopped a thirteen-game losing streak, as they defeated the Dallas Mavericks 91-82 at the Rose Garden.  That streak was the 4th-worst losing streak against an opponent; the Los […]

Martin, Miller help Kings tame Timberwolves 100-93

Despite the fact that the Sacramento Kings did not sell out Saturday night’s game (third game in a row not sold out), it did not take away from the effort that guard Kevin Martin provided.  He, along with center Brad Miller, combined for 41 points as the Kings extended the Minnesota Timberwolves losing streak to 5, […]
