Boozer Bruises Grizzlies 118-94
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Carlos Boozer had an amazing game Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies as he led the Utah Jazz with 31 points and the Jazz declawed the Grizzlies 118-94. Boozer who has come all the way back from injuries that plagued his first few years in Utah also had 7 rebounds 3 assists and a steal in the win. Point guard Deron Williams also came up big for the Jazz with 20 points and 13 assists, guard Gordan Giricek came off the bench with 16 points, Andre Kirilenko had 15 points a game high 12 boards, and 9 assists, and Ronnie Brewer added 10 points. Utah shot 53.3% from the field and 55.6% from outside the arc going 5-9 from three point range.
In my preview of this game I wrote that Memphis starting point guard Damon Stoudamire could be in danger of losing his starting role and games like saturday’s will be the reason if the team makes a move. Stoudamire?in?11:34 minutes of playing time scored 3 points, had 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 4 turnovers. If you are a regular reader of mine you know that I may?be Mike Conley Jr. strongest advocate in the media. Before the NBA Draft even took place, I said that Conley could be the most complete player in the draft. If I was a NBA General Manager, and I was drafting a team for 3-5 years down the road Mike Conley Jr. would be my number one choice. Saturday night he may have opened some eyes in Memphis as he played 23:09 scored 10 points had 9 assists, 2 rebounds and only 2 turnovers in his first?big chunk of playing in the NBA regular season. Watch out for this young man unless he gets hurt he is destined for greatness. Rudy Gay led Memphis with 18 points Pau Gasol had 11, and Juan Carlos Navarro had 10. Memphis is now 1-4, Utah improves to 5-2.
