Despite the fact that the Sacramento Kings did not sell out Saturday night’s game (third game in a row not sold out), it did not take away from the effort that guard Kevin Martin provided.  He, along with center Brad Miller, combined for 41 points as the Kings extended the Minnesota Timberwolves losing streak to 5, beating them 100-93 at Arco Arena.

Neither team could get much distance between them after halftime, and Timberwolves guard Sebastian Telfair’s 3-pointer tied the game after 3 quarters at 73.  Minnesota took the lead 89-88 on two free throws by rookie forward Corey Brewer with 4:13 left in the game.  But the Kings took the lead for good when Martin hit 3 free throws and Miuller made two of his own to up the Kings’ lead to 94-90, a lead that would hold up.

Martin led all Kings’ scorers with 29 points, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range.  F John Salmons added 19, while Miller put in 12 and 16 rebounds.  Minnesota was led by F Al Jefferson with 17 points and 12 rebounds, with Rashard McCants providing 16 off the bench; the aforementioned Corey Brewer added 15 and 8 boards.  Sacramento (2-4) play again on Monday when they visit Salt Lake city to face the Utah Jazz, while the winless Timberwolves (0-5) get a rematch with these same Sacramento Kings on Wednesday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
