New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter

There was good news and bad news from East Rutherford.  First the bad news - according to Al Iannazzone of the Trenton Record, New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter suffered what looks like a sprained ankle; he sprained it during the Nets’ loss to the Boston Celtics.  It is not known at this time what grade sprain it is.  Now the good news - and take it for what it’s worth: Carter was smiling after being fitted in a walking boot and crutches.  But I’m certain he isn’t smiling because it is a long-term injury.

Neither the Nets or Carter have placed a timetable on the injury, but he will receive treatment on the ankle today and see if he can give it a go on Monday.  Carter, since he has been with the Nets, has been surprisingly durable as he was the only Net to play all 82 games last season.  Probably the fact that forward Richard Jefferson is healthy makes this particular problem easier to deal with.
