Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce welcomed back his former coach Jim O’Brien back to the NBA with 31 points, 11 rebounds,6 assists, as?the Celtics?defeated the Indiana Pacers Tuesday night 101-86. With the victory Boston remains the only undefeated team in the NBA as they have started the season 6-0.

The Pacers kept it close in the first quarter down only by a basket 26-24 at the end of the quarter. But the turning point may have come late in the second quarter as Pacers guard Jamal Tinsley fouled Pierce hard as he was heading the hoop. Pierce quickly started to approach Tinsley in anger, but got through the moment without an incident. Pierce then gave Tinsley and the rest of the Indiana team the sweetest kind of revenge. Pierce scored 13 points, in the next 3 minutes,?and when the dust cleared Boston led at the half by 9, 52-43. That was the closest ?the Pacers got the rest of the game.

Boston only had three players in double figures, but it was enough as Kevin Garnett scored 18, and Ray Allen scored 17. Pacers forward Danny Granger who has had a nice start to his season led?Indiana with 24 points, 7 rebounds, Tinsley had 14 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and Jermaine O’Neal had 10 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 1 blocked shot. Indiana after the game stood at 3-4, they travel to Washington to take on the Wizards Wednesday.?The Celtics will play host to division rivals the New Jersey Nets.
