San Antonio Spurs’ forward-center Tim Duncan, left, confronts Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown during the second half of the Los Angeles Lakers-San Antonio Spurs game played on Tuesday night. San Antonio beat Los Angeles 107-92.

You know that the San Antonio Spurs had the magic happening when their 3-point percentage exceeded their 2-point shooting percentage (48.1% of their 3-pointers vs. 44% of their 2-pointers).  An unexpected source of their 3-pointers was none other than forward Bruce Bowen, who is usually known for his suffocating defense.  He hit 6 3-pointers, which helped San Antonio defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-92.

Spurs guard Tony Parker’s 16 points in the first half in addition to the Spurs’ six 3-pointers that gave San Antonio a 54-38 lead at the half.  Parker’s jumper with 5:14 left in the 2nd quarter gave the Spurs the lead for good, 35-34.  The Spurs went 13-of-27 from behind the arc, which gives you an idea of their gameplan as they only went to the free throw line 15 times, making 14 of the free throws.

San Antonio’s high scorer was Parker with 26 points and 9 assists, with Bowen adding 23, including the aforementioned 6 3-pointers and G Manu Ginobili contributing 17.  Reserve F Matt Bonner came off the bench to score 15.  Los Angeles was led by G Kobe Bryant with a quiet 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks; reserve G Jordan Farmar added 16 while reserve center Andrew Bynum chipped in 11 points and 12 boards.  San Antonio (7-1) goes up the road to face the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, while the Lakers (3-3) travel south to challenge the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.
