The Seattle SuperSonics have finally ended their battle with futility, as they won their first game of the season Tuesday over the Miami Heat 104-95. The contest also involved the return of Miami point guard Dwyane Wade who had been inactive recovering from shoulder and knee surgery.

Seattle who had lost their first eight games this season, led 30-25 at the end of the first quarter, and never let go of that lead for the rest of the contest.?The SuperSonics had?three starters in double figures with Chris Wilcox leading the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Damien Wilkins had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, Kevin Durant had 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and Delonte West came off the bench to?score 16, 6 assists, 4 rebounds.

Wade made his season debut off the bench for the Heat playing a little over 24 minutes scoring 15, dishing off 5 assists, with 3 steals, 1 blocked?shot, 1 rebound. Wade certainly did not look tentative on the floor making contact and diving for loose balls. All though he looked rusty there was a marked improvement from the hobbled player he was at the end of last season. Ricky Davis led the Heat with 19, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, Jason Williams, 14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals,?1 assist. ?Alonzo Mourning came off the bench scoring 13, with 6 boards and Shaquille O’Neal had another less than stellar night 10 points 3 rebounds.
